This year we've had a couple of incidents involving students being bullied for their looks or their race. This prompted our decision to launch the Anti-Bullying Campaign and create awareness about this issue.
I think a lot of people either don't realise it's happening, don't empathise enough with the victims or are just simply afraid to step in and help the person being abused.
Without realising it, we develop the 'turning a blind eye' habit to, first bullying at school, and then, racism and discrimination as an adult.
Whether bullied, victim of racism or, discrimination of any other form, it's important to understand that remaining silent as the victim, or the witness, is WRONG!
The Campaign at school will start soon, so make sure you participate as much as you can so we can ensure this doesn't take place in our school and/or our community.

I was disappointed to see people looking at them doing nothing. Maybe if i was in their place i wouldn't say anything but i definitely don't wish to be bullied. It was a very good thing to do for those who spoke up and stood by the shopper.
ReplyDeleteAmel, I felt exactly like you and was so frustrated when I saw those people just standing by and saying nothing! But, thank God there are good people out there who will stand up to those bullies and racists.
ReplyDeleteThe only action happened to me was starring, people didnt even move a step all what they did was looking and continuing shopping, i wish i was in the place of that brave man who stood up for the women.
ReplyDeleteSo the Campaign proved it's necessity even while launching it ... I mean the campaigners themselves were bullied for their hard work ...for the fact that they spent their time for people who are in need of some tolerance and stood up for something unusual. We should all learn from that! I'd personally like to do something about this issue especially about Racism...
